I was born in the month of January, so instead of making New Years resolutions, I make birthday resolutions.
I usually have a long list which I give up on by April only to pick up again in November when I see that I'm running out of time to achieve them.
This year I decided that I would stick to just 3, perhaps they'll be easier to stick to. In 2014 I'm aiming to:
1. Simplify my life by decluttering myself of unnecessary possessions.
2. Eat healthy and exercise more, I want my pre-baby figure back, well some of it :-)
3. Live a little more and BE happy, I spend alot time with my family, however this year I would like to reconnect with my old friends and just hangout.
Side Note: It's mid March and I haven't started, but I wont give up, I shall achieve!!! *fistintheair* lol
One more thing - This year I turned 33. Last year, I read a blog which referred to the 33rd birthday as a Jesus year since He died and resurrected at that same age.
I took alot of inspiration from that analogy and as a result, all I want for my birthday is for my fears and insecurities to die and my true self to finally resurrect.

For the love of blogging
It's been over 7 months since I posted, I must admit I missed it, so here I am... back again.
It's funny how, even though I enjoy blogging, the minute my life gets hectic, its one of the first things that I put on the back burner and if one were to look closely, they would notice that all the gaps in my blog occured at a time when I was really busy; planning my wedding, pregnant with and raising my first child and again when I was rearing my second baby.
Yes, its disheartening when the traffic slows down and when it eventually stops, but blogging is way more than just analytics.
Blogging is empowering, it democratisizes knowledge that was previously reserved to an elite few. You learn about things that you would'nt have otherwise been privy to. You learn about what people think, how they live and sometimes what people want you to believe about how they live ;-) it is my personal lesson on Sociocultural Anthropology.
I love blogging, I love reading blogs, I love bloggers too... and so... I will keep coming back.

2013 - On To The Next One
This photo and the word, "content" are the perfect ways to describe my 2012. My year was wonderful, for the first time in my life... I did not lack, I was at a state of peace and happiness. I'm not saying that I had it all or that all was perfect but, where things didn't go my way, I accepted the situation gracefully and just moved on.
My highlights, other than just being alive, were:
- Raising my son (pictured above), he turned one in September, I loved it all, the day to day stuff, I wouldn't have done it without my husband, daily breast milk pumping sessions at work included!
- Getting a new and exciting job, it was about time, I was stuck in a rut, it injected some needed motivation.
- Last but definitely not least, discovering that we have another bundle of joy coming our way.
The lows, like I said, there's nothing significant:
- I hated it when my son was hospitalised for chest infections in the winter... he was admitted 3 times... that sucked.
- Family and friends did not get to see much of me, though it was not intentional, I feel guilty about it.
- I regret staying away from the blog, but I don't feel guilty, motherhood and pregnancy can be demanding. My new job came with more money money, yay, but unfortunately it also came with more hours, nay.
Well, that was last year... now... on to the next one, 2013. I'm mostly looking forward to meeting our new family member...and indulging in all that she will bring. I'm still excited about my job, and I will make an effort to connect with friends and family a bit more. Ok ok ok, I promise to throw in a post or two here once in a while :-)
Happy New Year Everybody!

2012 : Happy New Year Everybody
2011 was really good to me, it was filled with love, joy, peace, happiness and all things warm and fuzzy. It was undoubtedly, the best year of my life. I married the love of my life, became pregnant, bought a house, adopted 2 adorable puppies and gave birth to a sweet and baby boy, in that order :-)
I was busy living life and I enjoyed every single moment of it... morning sickness included :-) through it all, reading (and writing) blogs became abit of a mission and I feel like, and probably have missed out on a lot. Now that I have settled into my new and fabulouss life, I'm back, I hope not to leave again.
Blogsphere, please welcome me back. Its a new year, a chance at new beginnings, lets make 2012 a good year.

2011 - Happy New Year
2010 has been the best year of my life. It started off by witnessing the majestic Victoria Falls after a lovely road-trip from PTA through Zimbabwe to Livingstone. The World Cup was awesome, the dilo revamp was motivating, and the cherry on top - getting married to my soul mate... what more could I ask for :-)I pray 2011 will bring more of what 2010 brought, more Love and Happy-ness. I hope to realise all that my dreams (I've got lots of those) and I wish everybody the same... a prosperous 2011.

Magazine Love

Now, one of the things, I really love and find inspiring are magazines...I have an addiction for these. I subscribe to some, buy others and appreciate the rest over a cup of coffee at Exclusive Books - international magazine prices leave me Dazed and Confused...I can't afford to take all of them home, though I wish so :-)
I love the Mzansi fresh articles, the photo shoots, the typography, the feel of the paper...and sometimes the smell of it. I cry when I have to let one of them go.
I'm proud to say that I have in my treasure, a full collection of the now defunct True Love Babe magazine...it was a really good magazine, with potential for greater things - I could really relate to it, cover-to-cover anyway...life happened to it, we'll leave that for another day.
I got my GAGA May issue of ELLE last night, the past 2 issues have been really great, much closer to home. The Alek Wek collectors issue may have been one of their best. I don't know why but they just make me pleasantly emotional...I think I'm falling in love again.

From StyleContext to Dilo - Work in Progress

I'm in the process of re-inventing my blog...after a very long absence. I also have decided to change the name from Style Context to Dilo, which means things or stuff in Tswana. I'm not Twsana but I like the word. My definition of dilo is gonna be very broad and not as shallow as it may seem. I get inspired by alot things, people and places...I'm gonna share those things with all willing to listen and I hope they will in turn get inspired. I also do recognise that at the end of the day, life is bigger than things ...way bigger ...it's up to each individual to decide what it is.

Bargain Hunter
I love it when I get a good deal, over the weekend. I got myself Diesel pants and Diesel Jeans at 82% and 53% off respectively at the Diesel shop in Menlyn. Gosh, I love a good bargain.

The Wisdom of Letting Go
I was at a market in Marabastad, sometime during the day. I saw a second hand Burberry Coat. I was a genuine Burberry; it was hard for me to believe it. Unfortunately it was about 4 sizes bigger than I am; I had to let it go. I have learned the wisdom to let go...Hhmm, did I make the right choice? I'm not so sure anymore...

Defending the Nation
While I was travelling through the Namibian desert, I thought to myself, how awesome would it be if I was driving a Defender. Don't get me wrong, my car treated me well in all aspects but I just adore this car, its ultra cool - period. It's been around since forever, I still see older models roaming the streets. Used in Safaris all over Africa, it must be rock hard; it's your typical Expedition/Adventure vehicle. Pretty tough yet if placed in the city it's as stylish as ever and it's timeless.
Somebody buy me a Defender and I'll keep it and you forever and believe me - they do last forever.

Working my way to the CenterFold
My photo appears in the ellereportback of the November issue of ELLE, a few months back, my letter was published in the ellemail section.
If you notice, these sections on furthest ends of the mag, ellemail, at the front and ellereportback, at the back.
the way i see it if i can move inwards from both ends, i'll end end up appearing in the center, now that where i wanna be...

Letter to all Stylistas
Hi
There are many definitions of style. For me, style means a way of life, one which you choose to live your life, nobody can dictate to you what style is or means, but some may agree with your definition of style. And so here it is this my definition, my view, my Context of Style.
